Henna Art & Hair Braiding Program

The Cultural Beauty & Arts Program by Maine Youth Empowerment Services (MaineYES) is an engaging, hands-on experience that empowers young girls through creativity, cultural expression, and artistic learning. Participants discover the timeless traditions of Henna Art and Hair Braiding while building self-confidence, leadership skills, and pride in their cultural heritage.

Our program provides a welcoming and supportive environment where girls can express themselves, develop new talents, and form meaningful friendships while learning from traditions that have connected communities for generations.

About the Program

Discover the Beauty of Tradition

The Cultural Beauty & Arts Program introduces young girls to artistic traditions that have been cherished and passed down through generations across Africa, the Middle East, and many other cultures. Through guided, hands-on instruction, participants learn the history, cultural significance, and creative techniques behind henna art and traditional hair braiding.

More than an arts program, this experience encourages personal growth by nurturing creativity, communication, teamwork, and leadership. Every session celebrates diversity, strengthens cultural understanding, and inspires girls to appreciate their unique identities while respecting the traditions of others.
